I love caring for 1st time moms- here's why!

Can I just say, I absolutely LOVE caring for 1st time moms during their pregnancies and post-partum?! Here’s why:

In case you haven’t figured it out yet, I’m not your run of the mill Chiropractor. Sure, I could adjust my patients to help reduce their pain and send them on their way. If I’m being honest, that’s all that’s expected of me and I know my patients would be happy with that. But, I have a huge heart and I can’t help but offer more than that!

In my experience, many offices ask expecting moms “what questions do you have” each visit. It’s great that they ask but, if the patient is a first time mom, they may not have very many questions because this is all new to them and they don’t know what they don’t know yet!

One of my goals is to help you figure out what you don’t know, so you know what to expect and how to manage it ahead of time. With that being said, I choose to take a different approach. During Chiropractic treatments I talk about my experience with pregnancy and discuss topics such as pain relieving techniques that I’ve used while in labor. When I guide the conversation, most 1st time moms tend to have many more questions, which is great!

We often discuss things such as:

Prenatal pain relieving stretches, how to modify movements/positions that are painful during pregnancy, SPD (symphysis pubic dysfunction), round ligament pain, ergonomic sleep positions, transitioning from laying to seated while pregnant, exercise recommendations and limitations, positioning of baby, how to use a yoga ball/peanut ball to your advantage, warning signs during pregnancy, the ring of fire and what to modify if you experience it, breathing techniques, labor environment ideas (lighting, music, etc.), the importance of developing a birth plan and TONS of tips & tricks during labor.

I make appropriate recommendations for other prenatal/ postpartum providers such as:

Massage therapist

Physical therapist

Pelvic floor therapist

Acupuncturist

Lactation consultants

Dentists that perform tongue/lip tie revisions

Pediatricians

OBGYN’s

Midwives

Doulas

Boudoir photographer

Prenatal photographer

Newborn photographer

Prenatal classes

3D/4D ultrasounds

The way I see it, there is a void in regards to prenatal services in the Capital Region that I’d like to help fill. I’m planning on personally making an impact in my community for the next 35+ years and I’m hoping it will create a ripple effect for the generations to come. One of my goals is to earn my place as a trusted referral source for all prenatal providers. I’m definitely well on my way.
